On my radar lately...
Today I’m sharing a few items that have floated to the top of my shopping brain recently. For some extra introspection, I also probed to see where the seed may have been planted in each instance… aka how I got influenced ;)
Why I’m tempted: I’ve been open to finding small ways to eliminate single-use products at home (so far that means switching from disposable cotton rounds to these washable ones and switching from dryer sheets to wool dryer balls). Blueland makes cleaning products shipped to you in tablet form. You’ll then dissolve those tablets in a reusable bottle filled with water. This method means they can also avoid shipping water and plastic packaging. I’m intrigued.
Influence: I follow both Blueland and its co-founder/CEO Sarah Paiji Yoo on Instagram, so the brand awareness there is high. Also, a friend told me they like using Blueland — promising!
Why I’m tempted: I do Youtube HIIT workouts sometimes, but I prefer yoga and am bad about running. I know I should probably try to get more cardio in though…
Influence: When Jenn Im talked on her IG stories about loving this stepper as a cheaper alternative to a Peloton bike and shared a link, I clicked so fast. I like that it’s pretty compact.
Brooklyn Candle Studio Love Potion Reed Diffuser
Why I’m tempted: This is one of my favorite scents ever — it’s floral but light and refreshing. I first discovered the scent in candle form at a pop-up holiday shop in Williamsburg a few years ago. It immediately reminded me of a really nice hotel bathroom I’ll always remember from my honeymoon in Bora Bora. I picked up a small candle there and have barely burned it since — I just open it sometimes to smell and reminisce. This past May, I bought the diffuser version for my mom for Mother’s Day. She’s been keeping it out in her living room and whenever I go over, I feel buoyant.
Influence: Myself? The hotel bathroom?
Bath & Body Works Aromatherapy Eucalyptus Spearmint Body Lotion
Why I’m tempted: I’m running low on the Billie body lotion I’ve been using and am now thinking back to this soothing lotion I got to use while visiting family last Christmas.
Influence: Skincare-savvy family member! The best kind of influence.
Hario Cold Brew Tea Wine Bottle
Why I’m tempted: I love to drink loose-leaf jasmine tea and usually have it hot. Less so these days…because heatwaves! I would not mind a more weather-appropriate way to drink jasmine tea.
Influence: I first read about the Hario cold brew tea wine bottle (with a removable strainer) in an issue of Caroline Finds It and was immediately interested. Then a few weeks later while traveling I saw the champagne bottle version at a coffee shop and wondered if it was the universe sending me a sign. I’ve low-key started cold-brewing (albeit less aesthetically and efficiently) just by using a mug and regular strainer. I’ve been enjoying it.
Since I’ve been thinking about each of these items for at least a month, I know they’re not impulse buys. At the same time, nothing here is truly a must.
I might go for the body lotion because I actually need a replacement in that department. And my heart says to get the diffuser because it would truly lift the mood in my home. Maybe a nice way to welcome fall!
